Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't you make dubs of Rhino episodes?
Because I want Rhino Home Video to produce as many MST3K tapes and
DVD's as possible.  The best way to make this happen is to make it profitable
for them to do so.  Also, Best Brains, the creators of the show gets some portion
of the proceeds, and I want them to be rewarded for producing this show.

What do you mean by "NTSC" VHS format?
If you live in the US or Canada, your VCR uses the NTSC format.  The UK uses
PAL.  I do not know what the rest of Europe uses (SECAM?). There are VCR's
available in the UK which can play NTSC tapes according to the UK MSTies
who have gotten tapes from me.

What do you mean when you say an episode is missing the "Stinger"?
The "Stinger" in MST3K is the brief 3-5 second clip on the end of the episode
after the credits. An episode missing the stinger is still complete otherwise.

What do the grades (e.g. A, A-, B+, B, B-, etc...) mean?
The grades try to quantify the condition of the episode.  It does not try
to give a picture of how good or funny they are. I do not try to determine how
funny an episode is because that would be completely subjective.  One man's trash
is another man's treasure, or something like that.

How good are episodes dubbed in EP/SLP as compared to SP?
Whenever you dub any analog tape, whether it be a VHS tape or an audio
cassette some of the quality is lost.  Episodes dubbed in EP/SLP tend to magnify
any defects in the original. This is not to say that tapes dubbed in EP/SLP are not
good.  Season 0 will be watchable in EP/SLP, but not great.  To a lesser extent, this
also applies to Season 1.
